According to Sports Illustrated, the Seahawks had a deal in place to trade QB Russell Wilson to the Eagles which was nixed by none other than Russell Wilson himself using the no-trade clause in his contract. Hindsight is 20/20 and he has to be kicking himself for passing up the opportunity to play for a team that made it all the way to the Super Bowl. Perhaps watching the Eagles succeed without him adversely affected his performance with the Broncos. Regardless, this is decision he will have to wear for the rest of his career.
Doug Gottlieb: “I’m guessing he dealt a ton with a bunch of regret. We try and figure out what’s bothering Russell Wilson... Russell Wilson was going to be an Eagle if not for Russell Wilson. He’s got to wear that. The Eagles got to wear that.”
