A 14-year-old girl who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in San Jose, California, was rescued after she was able to use Snapchat to alert her friends and share her location, who then alerted authorities, police said.

Albert Thomas Vasquez, 55, was arrested Tuesday morning at a motel in San Jose as he was leaving a second-floor room where the girl was located, San Jose police said in a news release.

Police say Vasquez met the girl in Capitola earlier on Tuesday where he gave her drugs. The suspect then called two other men, Antonio Quirino Salvador, 34, and Gonzalez Avarenga, 31, both of Fremont, for assistance to help him move the girl to a second location. The trio allegedly placed the victim in their vehicle against her will, where Vasquez then sexually assaulted her as they drove to the motel in San Jose.

The girl was then carried into the motel by the suspects into the second-floor room where Vasquez sexually assaulted the victim again, the statement said.

While in the motel room, the teen was able to use the Snapchat app on her phone to let her friends know she'd been kidnapped. She told her friends she had no idea where she was, but, her friends were able to determine her location using the app and called 911.

When police arrived at the motel, Vasquez was leaving the room where the girl was still inside. Police took him into custody. The other two suspects - Salvador and Avarenga - were arrested on Wednesday on charges of kidnapping and conspiracy, police said.

Vasquez was booked into Santa Clara County Jail Wednesday on felony charges of kidnapping to commit rape, digital penetration of a child under 14 years with force, false imprisonment, lewd act with a child 14 or 15 years with force and rape by intoxication or controlled substance. He is currently being held without bail at the Main Jail in San Jose, jail records show.
