Everyone who tuned in for that epic battle of Winterfell on HBO's "Game of Thrones" was likely surprised by how the whole thing unfolded. It was not what many fans were expecting to see and the actor who played the Night King has finally broke his silence on the whole thing.
We all know who took out the Night King. It was Arya Stark in one of the craziest ways. While some fans remain divided on that decision to have Arya, and not Jon Snow, be the big hero, what's done is done.
So why didn't Jon Snow have a final showdown with the Night King, the creature who had been taunting him for seasons.
Here's what actor Vladimír Furdík had to say:
I was actually surprised. This small lady, she's going to kill me? Why not Jon Snow? Why not a fight between Jon Snow or some other surprise?
In history, everywhere, kings never fight. I am a king, I have bodyguards. If I need to kill Jon Snow, there are 10 or 12 other White Walkers who can fight him.
So there you have it. This was a tried and true strategy that has worked for ages. It took an assassin to take out the Night King and we can't think of anyone better than Arya.
