There are several reports about Woodstock 50 being cancelled and then not cancelled this week and it is really confusing. I even wrote an article on how it sounded like Woodstock 50 was starting to turn into the next Fyre Festival. I guess I wasn't wrong.
According to this report from TMZ, an insider with information about the festival spilled all the beans on why it was cancelled by the finance company in the first place.
Amplifi Live -- the investment arm of Dentsu Aegis Network -- pulled out after it got word capacity for the concert venue shrunk by 50% -- from 150,000 to 75,000. The reason for the change -- Watkins Glen city officials said a big chunk of the land needed to be used as campgrounds to accommodate concertgoers.
We're told Amplifi Live needed a minimum of 100,000 attendees to make a go of it, so the company pulled the plug.
Now despite that report the concert organizer, Michael Lang, says that the performers should plan on this show happening on the scheduled dates. They are looking for other investors.
Also, Woodstock organizers sought out a mass gathering permit from Watkins Glen and that did not work out.
Woodstock 50's production partner has also pulled out of the festival. I honestly don't see them pulling this festival off.
Just an FYI, Watkins Glen has a population of about 2,000 people. They don't have hotels or Air BnBs so where are all these 100,000 concert goers going to stay? Sounds familiar. Maybe Ja Rule has an idea? They should pick his brain.
