One-And-Done Schools Are Done

For the first time since the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament began seeding teams, the Final Four does not include a 1st, 2nd or 3rd seed. Dan points out that those better seeded schools tend to recruit one-and-done players while the teams that remain this year seem to have more upperclassmen. It may be the new transfer rules, the COVID year, or any combination of factors responsible for the unprecedented occurrence, but a more mature roster is the one thing these winning schools have in common.

Dan Patrick: “The first time since seeding began back in 1979 the Final Four includes no team seeded 1, 2, or 3...Still a lot of great programs here, but the approach for the one-and-done, and maybe it’s an aberration this year, because you have the COVID year, transfers, but it feels like these teams, these schools are older, not relying on the one-and-done.”
