Michael Kay: Aaron Judge Probably Makes $100M More Now in Free Agency

New York Yankees television play-by-play broadcaster joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show after Aaron Judge hit his 62nd HR of the season last night, breaking the American League single-season HR record. He talks about the pressure of calling each at-bat while waiting for 61 & 62. He thinks Roger Maris Jr. is taking a little of the shine off Judge’s accomplishment by calling him the MLB record holder despite Barry Bonds’ 73 HRs in 2001 instead of just celebrating this as the American League record that it is, which is a truly amazing feat in its own right. And he is convinced Judge probably earned himself an extra $100M or more on his next contract by breaking this record.

Dan Patrick: “What impact will this season have on Aaron Judge’s future as a Yankee?”

Michael Kay: “Well I know it’s going to have an impact on his checkbook for sure. So, he turned down $213M and I would assume Dan that he probably made himself over $100M more, so that’s significant. Now how does that impact signing with Yankees? I’d say he’s still the odds-on favorite to go back to the Yankees, but I think it opens up a lot of other bidders.”
