Carl Falk's Mock NFL Draft

1.   Browns- Sam Darnold-QB USC- He isn’t Tim Couch, Brandon Weeden or Johnny Manziel, but there is risk. Too many turnovers last year, but has all the tools

2.   NY Giants- Bradley Chubb-DE NC St- JPP is in Tampa, Big Blue is best when it has big time DEE, Chubb fits perfectly

3.   NY Jets- Baker Mayfield-QB Oklahoma- Fiery leader who is very accurate. Not perfect but if he wins, NYC will love him

4.  Browns- Saquon Barkley-RB Penn St- Previous regimes focused more on acquiring draft assets. John Dorsey focusing on building a winner

5.  Broncos-Josh Allen-QB Wyoming- Elway sees a prospect who has athleticism similar to the GM. Now he just needs to turn that into a winning football player

6.  Dolphins (Trade with Colts)-Lamar Jackson-QB Louisville-Adam Gase got the job in Miami because he’s a quarterback whisperer. Jackson has huge upside but will need time to develop

7.  Buccaneers-Quinten Nelson-G ND- Staying true to your board ensures quality picks. Give Jameis a rock up front

8.  Bears-Tremaine Edmunds-LB Va Tech-Urlacher is going in the Hall of Fame, the bears draft a placement, finally

9.  49ers-Minkah Fitzpatrick-S Bama-Garapolo is cornerstone of this team, but the defense can’t be overlooked and Fitzpatrick is one of the best players in the draft

10. Raiders-Roquan Smith-LB Georgia-Mack and Smith will terrorize offenses for Gruden

11. Colts-Derwin James-S Florida St-Getting Luck help will have to wait for round 2, James is too good to pass on

12. Bills-Josh Rosen-QB UCLA-After all the trade up talk, McBeane get their guy and save draft capital. QBs in the draft get picked too high or fall, Rosen fell because he’s smart. Now the most talented QB comes with a chip on his shoulder

13. Redskins-Denzel Ward-CB Ohio St-It’s a passing league, and the best corner in the draft doesn’t go until 13.

14. Packers-Harold Landry-OLB Boston College-Clay Matthews is close to the end, Landry gives an upgrade that will allow for a seamless transition

15. Cardinals-Mike McGlinchey-OT ND-They wanted a QB, loved Lamar Jackson, but the Dolphins overpaid to get him, so they get a protector for Bradford. Too bad they could draft bubble wrap

16. Ravens-Joshua Jackson-CB Iowa-For years, Ozzie Newton was as better than most in the draft, he goes with a safe pick that fills a need to get back on track

17. Chargers-Vita Vea-DT Washington-Big, fast, nasty guy to press the middle and make the Chargers defensive front one of the best

18. Seahawks-Marcus Davenport-Edge UTSA-Legion of boom is gone, as is Michael Bennett, small school guy starts the rebuild

19. Cowboys-Calvin Ridley-WR Bama-Too good, too much of a need to pass on. Will McClay would have gone defense, but Jerry likes flashy toys, so he gets Dez replacement

20. Lions-Tavern Bryan-DT Florida-Many needs, but Matt Patricia gets a cornerstone to build around

21. Bengals-Rashaan Evans-LB Bama-Marvin Lewis can’t count on Vontaze Burfict, Evans is an eventual replacement, and by eventual, I mean week 1

22. Bills-Isaiah Wynn-OG Georgia-2 interior O line leaders retire, this is a need and quality. Could move to right tackle eventually, but becomes a day one starter at LG

23. Patriots-Conner Williams-OT Texas-Brady gets blindside protection in what is likely his last season. This pick more important due to loss of Nate Solder

24. Panthers-Mike Hughes-CB UCF-Time to get a replacement for Josh Norman. Last year Panthers focused on offense, it’s time to fix the defense

25. Titans-Leighton Vander Esch-LB Boise St-Could be a star, but only played six games in 2016, so essentially a 1 year starter

26. Falcons-Da’Ron Payne-DT Bama-Could be a force against run. But, several Alabama DT have been first round picks, not many have made pro bowls

27. Saints-Dallas Goedert-TE-South Dakota St-Brees has a few years left, Saints surrounding him with talent

28. Steelers-Mike Gesiki-TE Penn St-Jesse James is best know for a catch he didn’t make. Gesiki is a freak athlete who will benefit from Bell & AB

29. Jaguars-Cortland Sutton-WR-SMU-Hurns & Robinson are gone, Bortles was a surprising re-sign, he gets the first WR off the board

30. Vikings-Jaire Alexander-CB Louisville-When you have talent everywhere, you can take the best player available

31. Patriots-Maurice Hurst-DT Michigan-Pats never draft sexy, and still have missed too often. This is a need pick that has boom or bust written all over it

32. Eagles-Isaiah Oliver-CB Colorado-Secondary is one of the few areas that isn’t a strength, this helps make it one
